Responsibilities

  • Coordinates assigned events within the Orange County Convention Center, including event outlines, equipment coordination, monitoring events in progress, customer service and relations, and contractual matters.
  • Acts as liaison between users of the Center and the Center's staff.
  • Attends planning meetings with clients and their vendors; conducts pre-convention meetings with Center divisions, clients and vendors.
  • Collects and manages information to produce an event and creates event documents with schedules and diagrams.
  • Enforces Center policies and uses independent judgment in interactions with clients and patrons.
  • Reviews lessee contracts to ensure dates, facilities and equipment meet specifications and contractual provisions.
  • Manages events in progress to ensure compliance with Center policy and public safety codes.

Job Description
General Functions

Responsible for the coordination of events within the Orange County Convention Center.

General supervision is received from the Supervisor of Event Coordination and is reviewed through activity reports, conferences and results achieved.

Representative Duties/Assignments
  • Coordinates assigned events within the Orange County Convention Center to include event outlines, equipment coordination, monitoring events in progress, customer service and relations, and contractual matters.
  • Performs as liaison between users of the Orange County Convention Center and the Center's staff.
  • Attends planning meetings with clients and their vendors. Conducts pre-convention meetings with Center divisions, clients and their vendors.
  • Collects and manages information for the purpose of producing an event.
  • Produces an event document, including schedules, department instructions and diagrams, utilizing industry specific software.
  • Enforces written policies and procedures of the Center and exercises independent judgement in all activities with clients, event patrons and the general public.
  • Reviews lessee's contract to ensure dates, times, facilities and equipment provided are correct and contractual provisions have been fulfilled.
  • Manages events in progress to ensure compliance with Center policy and public safety codes.
  • Meets the Center of Hospitality (CoH) standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Recreation or Hospitality Management and two years of experience in Convention/Event Coordination, or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience.

Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Preferences

Experience with Microsoft Office products and event management software.

Pay Grade: 015 - From $25.00 to $32.49
