Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited healthcare program appropriate to the responsibilities of the position.
• Current licensure, certification, or credential in a healthcare field.
• RN licensure is preferred but not required.
• Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification, or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Experience in school health, pediatric care, emergency medicine, urgent care, or a related healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic first aid and care for students experiencing minor illnesses or injuries and respond to medical emergencies.
• Assess student health concerns and determine appropriate next steps (return to class, contact families, or medical evaluation).
• Coordinate and support implementation of Individualized Health Care Plans and Emergency Action Plans.
• Administer and manage student medications in accordance with school policy and NC requirements.
• Maintain accurate, secure, and confidential student health records and health office supplies.
• Communicate with families, faculty, and healthcare providers regarding student health needs and accommodations.
• Provide guidance and training to faculty and staff on first aid, epinephrine administration, anaphylaxis, seizures, asthma, diabetes, and infection prevention.
• Coordinate health planning for field trips and school-sponsored activities.
• Support emergency preparedness efforts and health-related protocols.
• Maintain a welcoming health office and build trust with students and families.
