Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Student Health Physician 4 Per Diem to deliver high-quality primary care for adolescents and young adults in both primary and urgent care settings. You will perform minor procedures, manage gynecologic care, and provide mental health counseling as part of a collaborative student health program.

The role includes supervising nurse practitioners, maintaining clinical documentation in EMR, and adhering to SHW/SHS policies.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice medicine in California (MD or DO).
• Board-certified in a Primary Care discipline and active in maintenance of certification.
• DEA registration current.
• BLS certified.
• Ability to prescribe controlled substances with DEA certificate.
• Experience in outpatient/adolescent/young adult care preferred.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary health care for acute and chronic conditions in primary and urgent care settings.
• Perform minor surgery, exams, treatment, and follow-up.
• Order and interpret labs and imaging.
• Manage gynecologic care including family planning.
• Counsel on mental health, prevention, and health maintenance.
• Prescribe medications and supervise nurse practitioners.
