Job summary

Southern Careers Institute is seeking an Education Finance Specialist to advise students on financial aid eligibility and procedures across Texas campuses. The role focuses on packaging policies, costs, and debt management to support student success.

You will determine aid amounts, compare applications to eligibility, interview students, and guide FAFSA steps while upholding FERPA confidentiality and delivering timely service within a friendly, student-first setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• You have excellent analytical, problem solving and customer service skills.
• You can make mathematical calculations and reconcile records as required.
• Technical: You have a working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Counsel and advise students about financial aid eligibility, application procedures, aid programs, packaging policies, costs, billing process, indebtedness, money management and financial planning.
• Determine the amount of aid, considering funds available, extent of demand, and needs of students.
• Compare data on students' applications with eligibility requirements of assistance program.
• Interview students to obtain information needed to determine eligibility for aid.
• Review FAFSA process with student and maintain copies of applicable federal tax returns; enter FAFSA data to complete needs analysis/budget worksheet.
• Ensure 100% student satisfaction; provide timely service during student appointments.
