Job summary

California State University, Monterey Bay is seeking an Accounting Technician II to support Student Financials. The role handles a high-volume cashiering workflow, processes tuition-related payments, and ensures accurate fee calculations and record keeping.

The position requires strong knowledge of GAAP, solid Excel/Word skills, and excellent customer service. It is full-time, non-exempt, and located on the CSUMB campus in Monterey, CA.

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible financial record-keeping experience.
• Education: any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Specialized training with accounting systems and Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Communicates university policies and procedures to students, staff and the public; resolves problems using established policies.
• Performs general cashiering duties including tuition-related transactions and fee calculations; maintains records and reconciles daily.
• Resolves holds on student accounts; ensures confidentiality under FERPA and state law.
• Produces CSUMB ID Cards for students, staff and faculty; assists with meal plan inquiries and related issues.
• Distributes payroll checks and reimbursements to students, staff and faculty.
