Job summary

The University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, CT seeks a Student Financial Services Counselor to provide initial student guidance and process payments, questions, and health insurance related steps.

Responsibilities include cash handling, daily reconciliations, and supporting accounts with student billing, FERPA-compliant service, and coordination with Financial Aid to streamline procedures.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in accounting or equivalent financial experience required; Bachelor’s preferred.
• Experience in college/university finance, financial aid, or Bursar functions is a plus.
• Strong customer service orientation with attention to detail and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive customer service to students and families by phone, in person, and email.
• Support student accounts functions: posting adjustments, reconciliations, and billing.
• Process student payments and handle health insurance paperwork and reconciliations.
• Oversee processing of financial paperwork and corporate reimbursement for students.
• Perform daily cash reconciliation and bank deposit; investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare journal entries for required corrections and maintain confidentiality per FERPA.
• Assist with department scheduling and office mail; maintain team collaboration.
