University Support Services, LLC is seeking a Financial Aid Counselor for Basic Sciences to guide students through the financial aid lifecycle, including loan packaging and budgeting. The role emphasizes compliance with federal regulations and active student engagement.

The counselor supports pre-matriculation, enrollment, mid-program, and graduation milestones, coordinating with Admissions and Bursar teams. Strong credit counseling and Excel skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 2–3 years of professional experience in financial aid, banking, lending, or student services.
• Direct experience with loan processing, FAFSA verification, disbursements, and electronic data transmissions preferred.
• Experience providing credit counseling, private loan counseling, and debt management education strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with Title IV, NSLDS, COD, and private lender regulations.

Responsibilities

• Counsel Basic Sciences students on federal and private loan programs, eligibility, and renewal requirements.
• Provide individualized credit counseling to explain scores, creditworthiness, and loan impact.
• Deliver private loan counseling and ensure understanding of terms and lender requirements.
• Provide debt management counseling and long-term borrowing guidance.
• Guide students through entrance and exit loan counseling to meet federal requirements.
• Counsel on budgeting and meeting obligations to the University and lenders.
• Act as primary contact for assigned caseload with proactive outreach.
• Document interactions in RHACOMM (Banner) and Salesforce for compliance.
• Respond to inquiries within 24–48 hours and escalate as needed.
• Guide students through the VA process in collaboration with operations.
