Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Respond to external agencies requesting student information by reviewing student files and verifying eligibility.
  • Manage Financial Literacy/Default Prevention program.
  • Maintain the Policy and Procedure library for the financial aid office.
  • Explain Title IV, state and institutional regulations to students and families.
  • Answer questions from students and authorized parties about financial aid programs and costs.
  • Participate in trainings and committees to stay current on Title IV rules.
  • Represent the department and the University in line with Core Values.
  • Maintain financial literacy web page and host literacy events on campus.
  • Present to incoming/continuing students about the financial aid process.
  • Advise and counsel as primary contact for students and families.

Job Description

The Student Financial Services Coordinator, Financial Aid ensure timely, accurate, and appropriate dissemination of financial aid information regarding processes to students and prospective students. Provides accurate and timely information to external parties regarding student eligibility. Coordinates activities related to a financial literacy program, and monitors department's web content.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responds to external agencies requesting student information byreviewing student files, validating data, completing forms andverifying student's financial aid eligibility
  • Manages and implements Financial Literacy/Default Preventionprogram
  • Manages Policy and Procedure library for financial aidoffice
  • Responds to students and families in a responsive and friendlymanner about methods on how to pay for their education andfinancial aid eligibility. Must have the ability to explain TitleIV, state and institutional regulations
  • Answers questions, inquiries or requests from students andother authorized parties in writing, in person or over the phoneregarding financial aid programs and eligibility applicationprocedures and costs
  • Participation in training seminars, conferences, committeemeetings in order to maintain current on all Title IV financial aidrules and regulations
  • Represent department and the University favorably and inaccordance with established Core Values and expectations
  • Maintain financial literacy web page
  • Host financial literacy events on campus
  • Present to incoming and continuing students on the financialaid process
  • Maintains policies and procedures and monitors the department'sweb content and updates as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goalsand objectives of the organization
  • Advising and Counseling: Serve as primary point of contact forstudents, families, and campus partners, providing accurate andtimely information related to student financial services, includingfinancial aid and student accounts, this can include accountinquiries related to FAFSA, Private loan selection, billing andpayments.
  • Customer Service & Student Engagement: Strong ability toprovide compassionate, solution-focused customer service, assistingstudents and families with financial aid, billing concerns, andpayment options. Proficient in crisis management and interventiontechniques to support students in financial, academic, or personaldistress.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • One to two years' experience in higher education or a financialaid office preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of Federal Student Aid programsessential
  • Working knowledge of Department of Education software
  • Workday Student experience a plus
  • Required initiative and the ability to work effectively underminimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Officeapplications
