Job summary

Furman University is seeking a Financial Aid Counselor to advise on financial aid and to manage the awarding of federal, state, local, private, and institutional aid. You will stay informed of policies and regulations for proper awarding and disbursement of aid.

You will meet with students and families, interpret guidelines, and process aid efficiently using PowerFAIDS, ELM, COD, and Workday. This role requires travel availability and a flexible schedule.

• Bachelor's degree and experience in higher education administration.

• Significant computer background including experience with relational databases.
• Strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Research and interpret student financial aid program guidelines to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Meet with students and parents concerning the financial aid process and deadlines; assist in completing forms and provide guidance.
• Assist with processing loan files and corrections in PowerFAIDS, ELM, and COD; award loans and adjust awards as needed.
• Counsel students regarding satisfactory academic progress, withdrawals, and enrollment plans related to state aid.
• Reconcile state aid programs monthly and ensure funds align with disbursed amounts in PowerFAIDS and Workday.
• Operate all financial aid software programs and perform data entry and processing.
