Job summary

The New School’s MA Media Studies program seeks motivated, detail-oriented Student Event Assistants to support event coordination for program-led and student-led activities. The role involves scheduling, attending events, coordinating among students and faculty, designing posters and digital outreach materials, and maintaining event archives.

Hybrid work with campus presence and remote tasks is expected. The position offers a $20.00/hr rate, up to 75 hours per semester, and is ideal for graduate

Qualifications

• Current graduate student in good standing in The New School MA Media Studies program with GPA 3.0 or higher.
• Must be within time limit for attaining their graduate degree and not exceed allowed incomplete credits.
• Not employed by The New School as administrative staff.
• Strong organization, written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated interest in media programming and event production.
• Solid skills in recording and editing audio/video content; experience with Adobe Creative Suite.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and hold weekly meetings with events team.
• Be present at all scheduled events.
• Liaise among students, faculty event points, and MA Director.
• Design, print, and distribute posters and digital materials including social media with Comms assistant.
• Organize and maintain events archives; arrange video recordings as needed.
• Support faculty producers in all aspects of event planning and execution.
