Job summary

RESPEC is seeking a Student Engineering Intern (Civil, Geotechnical, or Geomatics/Survey) for Summer Internship 2027 in Anchorage or Fairbanks. You will work alongside full-time staff in RESPEC's Transportation Market Sector, gaining hands-on experience and mentoring to develop engineering skills.

The ideal candidate is enrolled in a related degree and shows interest in civil infrastructure, geotechnical work, and surveying.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a relevant degree.
• Strong interest in civil infrastructure, geotechnical engineering, surveying, or related disciplines.
• Prior internship or work in engineering, surveying, construction, or related field is preferred.
• Familiarity with CAD, GIS, surveying, or data-processing software is beneficial.
• Strong computer skills and experience with collaboration tools.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of civil engineering projects under supervision.
• Assist engineers and surveyors in field data collection and office tasks.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary RESPEC team to learn processes and client workflows.
• Contribute to data analysis, documentation, and project coordination.

Student Engineering Intern (Civil, Geotechnical, or Geomatics/Survey)

RESPEC seeks a Student Engineering Intern (Civil, Geotechnical, or Geomatics/Survey) for our Summer Internship 2027 program in our Anchorage or Fairbanks Office.

This hands-on position is within RESPEC's Transportation Market Sector. This internship position will work alongside our firm's full-time employees to learn how professional services are provided to our clients. Our experienced staff will provide mentoring and coaching to our interns to allow development of engineering skills and knowledge. Interns will be exposed to our clients, job sites, communities, as well as collaborate with our RESPEC multi-discipline team on public and private sector clients. Qualifications

The Ideal Candidate Will Have the Following:

• Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Surveying Engineering, Geomatics, Geospatial Sciences, or a related field
• Strong interest in civil infrastructure, geotechnical engineering, surveying, or related disciplines
• Prior experience in engineering, surveying, construction, or related field activities preferred but not required
• Familiarity with engineering, CAD, GIS, surveying, or data-processing software is beneficial
• Strong computer skills and experience using modern collaboration technologies
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to learn, grow, and contribute as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to work safely in both office and field environments

Additional Information

Compensation:Compensation depends on experience. No benefits are offered except those that are required for statutory purposes.

Work Schedule: During the summer months; 40 hours/week.
