RESPEC seeks a Student Intern (Structural Engineering) for its Summer Internship 2027 in our Anchorage, Alaska office. This is a temporary part-time paid internship, approximately 12 weeks from May to August 2027.

Responsibilities include assisting design work, performing calculations, researching topics, and assisting with field inspections. Ideal candidates are pursuing civil engineering degrees with strong math and communication skills.

Job Description

RESPEC seeks a Student Intern (Structural Engineering) for our Summer Internship 2027 program in our Anchorage, Alaska office. This is a temporary part-time position.The paid internship program is approximately 12 weeks and runs from May – August 2027.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain real-world experience with a growing North American engineering consulting firm. This is a temporary part-time position.

This hands-on design position is within RESPEC’s Facilities (Structural) Market Sector. This internship position will work alongside our firm’s full-time employees to learn how professional services are provided to our clients. Our experienced staff will provide mentoring and coaching to our interns to allow development of civil engineering skills and knowledge. Interns will get exposed to our clients, job sites, communities, as well as collaborate with our RESPEC multi-discipline team on public and private sector clients.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution

Preferred qualifications include the following:

• Solid time management skills and ability to produce accurate, high-quality work in an efficient manner
• Coursework in steel, wood, concrete, and precast/prestressed concrete design
• Good working knowledge of fundamentals of structural engineering concepts
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented
• Strong problem-solving and math skills
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Team player who strives to provide quality work
• Some proficiency with Autocad Revit

Additional Information

Compensation:Compensation depends on experience. No benefits are offered except those that are required for statutory purposes.

Work Schedule: During the summer months; 40 hours/week.
