MacKay & Somps is seeking a Student Engineer to apply classroom knowledge to real‑world land development and public infrastructure projects across Northern California. You will work with professional engineers, designers, and surveyors, gaining hands‑on design experience and contributing to communities.
You must be pursuing a B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university, with coursework in site design, hydrology, or stormwater.

While we are actively interviewing candidates for the Summer 2026 Student Engineer role, we anticipate offers being extended around February of 2027 with a June 2027 start date. Official start date to be confirmed with the successful candidate.

Student Engineers work under the direction ofProject Engineers,Project Managers, andCAD Designers, providing design and production support on a variety of projects, including:
Preparing plans, exhibits, and figures forland developmentandpublic infrastructureprojects
Assisting withgrading, utility, stormwater, and street design
Supportinghydrology and hydraulic calculations
Performing quantity take-offs, basic cost estimating, and data entry
Learning to use design software includingAutoCAD Civil 3Dand Microsoft Office tools
