Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa invites applications for a Student Engagement Coordinator. The role oversees the student engagement program, including student organizations and New Student Orientation, and influences leadership development through formal and informal methods.

The position supports retention initiatives and coordinates special events. Related duties include advising student groups, risk management, and collaboration with the Division of Student Life and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; at least three years of professional experience in higher education required, preferably in the area of student development, counseling, education, or similar field.
• Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills to work with students, staff, and community partners.
• Experience with coordinating student activities, programs, and orientation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a central coordinator for student activities in the Division of Student Life and supports programming across the College.
• Advises student groups, ensures compliance, and helps develop leadership skills among students.
• Supports civic engagement programming and assists with contract negotiations and event risk management.
• Designs, implements, and leads New Student Orientation and trains orientation staff.
• May serve as co-advisor to Greek Council and liaison for Greek organizations; can be a Student Conduct Officer.
