Job summary

The American Heart Association in Los Angeles invites qualified students to join our School Engagement Team as a part-time, hybrid intern. You will support fundraising campaigns, drive engagement, and help deliver life-saving programs while gaining hands-on nonprofit experience.

Hours are 20–25 per week, Jan 25, 2027 through May 7, 2027, with mandatory attendance during Super Bowl Week. Location is hybrid in Los Angeles; some work at the office and some from home, at $23.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, sales, nonprofit management, marketing, event planning, or public relations.
• Must be comfortable with customer outreach (phone calls & emails to donors).
• Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
• Experience with event planning.
• Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
• Intermediate to excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experience using a CRM is preferred.
• Required: Reliable WiFi Connection and reliable transportation.
• Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between regular public school hours of 7:30am-4:30pm.
• Must be available Super Bowl Week – February 8 – 14, 2027.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.

Responsibilities

• Responsibilities include assisting with Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge, service-learning fundraising programs that teach healthy habits, build character and foster a sense of purpose while raising lifesaving funds. This internship provides the opportunity to drive revenue, lead student assemblies, and support program execution and volunteer and donor engagement.
• Working with the Development Directors, conduct outreach to schools, represent the team at multiple events, and help manage exciting projects from start to finish.
• Assist with volunteer management including prepping for and attending externally facing meetings (both in-person and virtual).
• Have the flexibility to travel to schools and other event sites for in-person engagement.
• Assist with multiple events leading up to the NFL Super Bowl, where the Association is supporting.
• Manage customer relationships, including documentation in a customer relationship management (CRM) system.
