Job summary

Junior Achievement of South Florida, Inc. is seeking a Student Engagement Assistant to support fifth or eighth-grade students, teachers, parent volunteers, and corporate teams in JA BizTown and JA Finance Park simulations.

You will prepare materials, guide participants with tablets/computers, and help maintain a safe, organized program environment all day. Strong communication and problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students.
• Ability to work effectively with teachers, students, volunteers, and staff.
• Comfortable engaging and leading large groups.
• Help students/volunteers use a browser-based simulation on tablets/computers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Teams, Excel, Outlook).
• At least 1 year of basic computer experience and troubleshooting.
• Resourceful in solving problems and maintaining a positive attitude.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technology and program materials before student/volunteer arrivals.
• Lead and assist students, volunteers, and teachers during one-day simulations.
• Guide students/volunteers in using tablets and computers for the program.
• Ensure activities align with the day’s schedule and are completed on time.
• Assist in keeping facilities organized and safe for participants.
• Reset program materials, tablets, and computers for the next day.
• Organize storefronts and prepare for student visits.
• Provide basic tech/IT troubleshooting during simulations.
• Assist with storage, distribution, and inventory of materials and supplies.
• Assist with Volunteer and Teacher trainings as needed.
• Attend required training sessions and perform other duties as assigned.
