Job summary

Junior Achievement of South Florida in Coconut Creek is seeking a proactive Job Developer to network with private and public employers and create career-building opportunities for Youthbuild students. You will market JA programs, build partnerships, and present to potential partners.

Responsibilities include coordinating internships, organizing workshops, guiding trainees, and evaluating program impact across Broward and south Palm Beach counties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in social sciences, business, or related field.
  • At least three years’ experience in job development and placement.
  • Knowledge of construction industry and major employers in Broward/South Palm Beach.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with public and private sectors to create opportunities for Youthbuild students.
  • Build relationships with employers through networking, outreach, and regular communication.
  • Market JA programs to potential employers and present Youthbuild opportunities.
  • Assist staff and students to identify internship opportunities and arrange guest speakers and site visits.
  • Plan job search skills workshops including interviewing and resume prep.
  • Coordinate and oversee an internship program for students.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and collect employer feedback.

Location: Coconut Creek, FL 33066

Schedule: Regular work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5pm, however fulfilling responsibilities and meeting goals may require additional hours. The position may require early mornings and/or evenings and occasional weekends.

Role Snapshot

The Job Developer networks in the private and public sectors to develop career-building opportunities for Youthbuild students.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Your Broad Responsibilities Will Include
  • Develop and maintain partnerships in the public and private sectors that will provide career opportunities that are aligned with Youthbuild students’ interests and goals.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers: Build strong relationships with businesses through networking, regular communication, and personalized outreach. This includes activities such as proactively participating in relevant networking groups to create and foster connections, share insights, and stay abreast of industry trends.
  • Work with the program manager to market the program to potential employers. This will include developing and making presentations about Youthbuild.
  • Assist Youthbuild staff members and students to identify and schedule career-related guest speakers, site visits, shadow experiences, and informational interviews.
  • Meet with trainees at regular intervals to learn about their job and career goals or immediate needs.
  • Plan and organize job search skills workshops including interviewing, resume preparation, and other skills.
  • Connect trainees with viable job opportunities.
  • Develop and oversee an internship program for students.
  • Provide evaluation, conciliation, and mediation between employer and employee post job placement.
  • Work closely with employers of students to maximize student employment retention and success.
  • Monitor and evaluate the program's effectiveness: Assist in collecting employer feedback and data.
  • Participate with team to prepare and support students before, during and after their internship experience.
  • Develop informational sessions (virtual and in person) to educate employers on the benefits of hiring young adults; how to create an internship program; onboarding interns, etc. and promote awareness and enhance the reputation of the Youthbuild program.
  • Organize events to recognize and thank employers for their participation in internship programs.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to identify potential employer partners and effectively pitch the value of the internship program.
  • Skilled in lead generation, cold outreach, and closing deals.
  • Comfortable navigating objections and tailoring messaging to different industries.
Communication & Presentation Skills
  • Confident and persuasive communicator across written and spoken formats.
  • Skilled at delivering engaging presentations to business audiences.
  • Experience creating compelling marketing content that captures employer interest and drives meaningful engagement.
Relationship Building & Networking
  • Ability to build and maintain long-term, trust-based relationships with business leaders.
  • Ability to be active in local chambers, industry groups, and networking events.
  • Consistent and proactive in maintaining employer communication.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and CRM software.
  • Passion for education and workforce development.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Reliable personal transportation for travel within Broward and south Palm Beach counties.

Along with the above, we would also expect you to have:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences, business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least three years’ experience in job development and placement.
  • Knowledge of construction industry, and major private and public employers in the area.
  • Ability to establish rapport and relate sensitively to a multiracial and multicultural group of young people.
