Job summary

Aurora Community Services seeks a Vocational Coordinator to support Cardinial Transitional Academy students in developing social, community, and vocational readiness as well as independent living skills. The role involves direct student interaction and coordination with day services to promote independence.

Travel within Chippewa and Eau Claire counties is required. The position offers meaningful work in a growing, employee-owned company with a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with people with disabilities.
• Ability to build effective/professional relationships with families and students.
• Experience developing and implementing age-appropriate curriculum.
• Proven ability to maintain a safe and studious classroom environment.
• Strong oral and written communication.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.

Responsibilities

• Develop curriculum/activities to meet developmental goals and instructional activities.
• Prepare lesson plans and structure daily routine for students.
• Direct Para-Professionals in classroom with daily/weekly job tasks.
• Allocate 90% of time with students teaching daily-life skills.
• Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff.
• Measure progress and provide progress reports on students’ academic achievements.
• Create and keep records on attendance, accidents, incidents, and other noteworthy events in accordance with program policies.
• Manage student behavior in accordance with outlined guidelines.
• Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the classroom/school campus.
• Perform other duties as assigned with Vocational and Day Services when school is not in session.
