Job description

Overview

Under the direct supervision of the School of Natural Resources Department Manager, the Natural Resources Office Student Employee supports the daily administrative operations of the School of Natural Resources.

NR Office Student Employment

Salary: $12.00- $13.00

Responsibilities
  • Provide front office support by greeting and assisting students, faculty, staff, visitors, and community members in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, take accurate messages, and direct inquiries to the appropriate faculty or staff member.
  • Assist students with general questions regarding School of Natural Resources programs, services, and resources.
  • Provide administrative support to faculty, department chairs, and staff members, including copying, scanning, filing, and document preparation.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel and prepare documents using Microsoft Word.
  • Assist with data entry, record maintenance, and organization of departmental files and information.
  • Support faculty and staff with special projects, reports, presentations, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Assist Department Chairs and the Director of Sustainability with departmental initiatives, projects, and events.
  • Support recruitment activities, open houses, campus visits, and other special events sponsored by the School of Natural Resources.
  • Maintain School of Natural Resources bulletin boards, displays, promotional materials, and informational postings.
  • Assist with the organization, cleanliness, and upkeep of office spaces and computer labs.
  • Monitor office supplies and notify supervisors when replenishment is needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling student, employee, and departmental information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Manager or School of Natural Resources leadership.
Qualifications – Education, Experience, And Skills
  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time Hocking College student.
  • Must be a second-year student.
  • Must meet federal requirements for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
  • Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to successfully demonstrate basic computer skills; a computer proficiency assessment may be administered during the interview process.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and public relations skills, including in-person, telephone, and written communication.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
  • Knowledge of or interest in the School of Natural Resources and its programs preferred.
  • Ability to lift and move office equipment, materials, or supplies up to 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Willingness and ability to complete all required training and professional development assigned by the supervisor, Human Resources, or the College.
