Position Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Allied Health and Nursing Office Manager or designated supervisor, the Allied Health and Nursing Office Student Worker supports the daily administrative and operational functions of the Allied Health and Nursing Office. This position provides hands‑on experience in office administration, customer service, and higher education operations while assisting faculty, staff, students, and visitors. The student employee helps maintain an organized, professional, and efficient office environment that supports the instructional, laboratory, and clinical functions of the Allied Health and Nursing programs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide general office support, including filing, scanning, photocopying, document preparation, and maintaining departmental records.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, take messages, and direct inquiries to the appropriate faculty or staff member.
  • Greet and assist students, faculty, staff, prospective students, and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Assist with walk‑in student needs by providing general information and directing individuals to appropriate campus resources.
  • Prepare, sort, distribute, and mail departmental correspondence, packets, and instructional materials.
  • Assist faculty and staff with copying, printing, assembling course materials, and other administrative tasks.
  • Support the organization and preparation of classroom, laboratory, simulation, and instructional materials as directed.
  • Assist with email communications, data entry, and professional correspondence.
  • Maintain office files, records, and electronic documents in an organized and accurate manner.
  • Monitor office supply inventory and notify supervisors when supplies need replenishment.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the reception area, office workspaces, and common areas.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling student records, academic information, and other sensitive materials in accordance with FERPA and College policies.
  • Provide excellent customer service while representing the Allied Health and Nursing Department in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Successfully complete all required training related to customer service, FERPA, workplace safety, and other College policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Allied Health and Nursing Office Manager or designated supervisor.
Qualifications – Education, Experience, and Skills
  • Must be currently enrolled as a full‑time Hocking College student.
  • Must be a second‑year student.
  • Must meet federal requirements for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
  • Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and other standard office software.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, scanners, and multi‑line telephone systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with email etiquette and professional business correspondence.
  • Strong customer service and public relations skills; previous customer service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling student, faculty, and departmental information.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, initiative, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and effectively manage time in a busy office environment.
  • Ability to lift and move office supplies, files, and materials up to 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Willingness and ability to complete all required training and professional development assigned by the supervisor, Human Resources, or the College.
