Job summary

The University of Central Missouri (UCM) invites applications for an assisting role in Fashion & Apparel Merchandising to support The Fashion Shop and labs, help with class preparation, supervision, and social media planning.

You will help manage events, organize labs, operate sewing equipment, assist student organizations and collaborate on content creation for posts.

Qualifications

• Fashion major with 30-60 hours completed toward degree.
• Comfortable with Adobe Illustrator, Canva, Google Suite and video editing.
• Basic knowledge of sewing and equipment (FAME 1450 completed)
• Available on campus most days during the week when school is in session.

Responsibilities

• Assist The Fashion Shop with design ideas, event planning and management, and social media content creation.

• Assist with student organizations such as FBA and Fashion Council.
• Plan and execute events including Fashion Shop events, fashion shows, and community collaborations.

• Help students use equipment for their projects and supervise open lab hours.
• Assist professors with class preparation or supervision as needed.
• Collaborate to create a social media plan and manage posts.

Assist Fashion & Apparel Merchandising Faculty in The Fashion Shop and labs as well as with class preparation/supervision and social media.

Duties Include:

• Help manage The Fashion Shop including: design ideas, event planning and management, create items, visual merchandising, assist other students participation in Fashion Shop, and other tasks as needed.
• Organize, tidy, and maintain lab areas, closets and classrooms.
• Assist with student organizations- FBA and Fashion Council.
• Help plan and execute events including: Fashion Shop events, fashion shows, collaborations in community/ campus, etc.
• Run and maintain lab equipment including sewing machines, sergers, embroidery, vinyl cutters, heat presses, etc.
• Help students use equipment for projects and/ or Fashion Shop.
• Supervise open lab hours (after hours periodically).
• Assist professors with class preparation or supervision on occasion.
• Work with a team to create a social media plan, create content, and manage posts.

Education:

• Fashion major with minimum of 30-60 hours completed towards degree

Experience:

• Comfortable with software including Adobe Illustrator, Canva, Google Suite, video editing, etc.
• Basic knowledge of sewing and equipment (FAME 1450 completed)
Available on campus most days during the week when school is in session

Working Hours:

• To be decided when student is hired.
• No more than 20 hours a week.
