American University is seeking a Desk Assistant (Student) on the Main Campus in Washington, DC. This part-time role supports Housing & Residence Life, ensuring safety and providing excellent front-desk service for residents and guests.

Position requires active AU enrollment (12–17 credits/semester), GPA 2.50+, and good conduct. The role includes evening/night shifts, training in August/January, and a 10-month timeline August–May.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at American University.
• Cumulative GPA at, or above, 2.50 and term GPA at, or above, 2.50.
• Must be in good conduct standing with the university.
• Participate in the Desk Assistant interview process.

Responsabilités

• Staff residence hall front desks from 7:00 AM - 11:00 PM daily.
• Assist residents with checking in and out of housing assignments using StarRez.
• Answer questions from students, families, faculty, and staff in person and by phone.
• Maintain desk area, binders, logs, and inventory of supplies.
• Attend DA meetings and communicate with Residential Operations Coordinators.
