Job summary

The City of New York is seeking a College Aide to support the Design Unit – Section 5- Consultant Design – Group 1 in municipal engineering design coordination. The role involves assisting with design phases for sewer upgrades, tracking milestones, and ensuring documentation is audit-ready.

Under Engineer-in-Charge mentorship, you will gain exposure to design approvals, interagency sign-offs, and construction readiness, while working in a part-time capacity at the LIC location.

Qualifications

• Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.
• For IT Assignment Level II: matriculation with IT study and 9 credits.
• For IT Assignment Level III: matriculation with IT study including 9 credits; appointments by Technology Steering Committee.

Responsibilities

• Assist project engineers with coordinating in-house design phases for sewer upgrades, tracking milestones and schedules.
• Support communication between Section 5 and internal units and external agencies to advance design approvals.
• Organize and maintain digital project records and technical memos for audit-ready files.
• Assist with compiling utility record maps and historical records using NYC GIS portals.
• Prepare progress trackers and draft coordination emails and meeting summaries.
