Job summary

South Sanpete School District Gunnison Valley High School in Gunnison, Utah is seeking a Student Custodian to join our facilities team. The role is part-time with responsibilities for cleaning classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas, plus routine maintenance and event setup.

Open and close the building each school day, follow safety procedures, and help maintain a safe, clean learning environment for students and staff. Starting immediately with an $11 per hour wage.

Job Description

GENERAL FUNCTION

Clean and maintain district facilities using routine procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Cleaning

• Maintain a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning floors, whiteboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.
• Keep school buildings and grounds neat and clean, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas.
• Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.
• Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed.

Maintenance and Repair

• Assist with lunchroom set up, including arranging tables and chairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance to ensure students' and staff's comfort, health, and safety.
• Move furniture or equipment within the building as directed by the principal.
• Assist in setting up facilities for special events.

Safety

• Assist with opening and closing the building each school day, ensuring all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working correctly during hours of building occupancy.
• Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
• Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
• Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.
• Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
• Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any not immediately correctable to the supervisor.
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Position Type: Part-Time

Salary: $11 to $11 Per Hour
