Job summary

Ogden City School District is seeking a Building Custodian (Custodian II) at the District Campus in Ogden, Utah. The position is full-time, with an 8-hour day and a 40-hour week on site, starting immediately.

Duties include cleaning, maintenance, and setup for events, with supervision by the Custodial Supervisor. Requirements include a high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least 6 months of related experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Six (6) months of related experience.
• Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.
• Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures.
• Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs; refill restroom dispensers.
• Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
• Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets.
• Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
• Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments.
• Lock and unlock assigned buildings: secure buildings when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off the lights.
• Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies.
• Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis.
• Wash accessible interior and exterior windows, clean blinds, and launder cleaning rags and dust mops.
• Report major damages to the Maintenance Department for repair.
• Tend to emergencies when necessary.
• Attend safety meetings and other related meetings.
• Take classes as required in cleaning methods and techniques, new products, First Aid, CPR, and working relationships.
• Handle recycling materials.
• Remove garbage from the parking lot.
• Clear snow as needed.
• May trim trees and bushes.
• May mow, edge, and weed eat lawns.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

• The job regularly requires above average strength and/or stamina. Job duties may involve lifting and carrying of heavy materials/objects (50-100 pounds).
• Occasionally work is carried out in disagreeable conditions. Exposure to adverse working conditions, inclement weather, dirt/dust, noise or fumes, and/or exposure to possible accidents, health hazards or minor injuries produce an environment that involves adjusting to or accommodating these uncomfortable conditions.
