Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools seeks a dedicated staff member to serve as the Student Council Advisor at G-A High School. The role empowers student leaders, guides events, and supports school spirit initiatives through careful planning and mentorship.

The advisor coaches leadership skills, oversees elections and campaigns, and coordinates with administration, staff, and families to promote a positive school culture and civic engagement both inside and outside the classroom.

Qualifications

• Current faculty or staff member at Galesburg Augusta High School.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
• Passion for youth empowerment and fostering a positive school culture.
• Ability to commit time before/after school and during extracurricular events.

Responsibilities

• Support and guide elected student officers in running effective meetings and managing committees.
• Coach student leaders in communication, project management, public speaking, and problem-solving.
• Oversee student elections and campaign procedures.
• Supervise student-led events (e.g., Homecoming, pep rallies, dances, spirit weeks, fundraisers).
• Attend scheduled council meetings (weekly or bi-weekly before/after school) and official evening functions.
• Manage the Student Council budget, activity funds, and financial approvals in accordance with school policy.
• Serve as the liaison between the Student Council, administration, staff, and parent organizations.
• Ensure all activities comply with school district policies and safety standards.
