Kellogg Center at Michigan State University is seeking a Student Cook to assist with the preparation, cooking and serving of food across multiple dining venues. The role emphasizes learning food safety standards and delivering high-quality service to Spartan guests.
Candidates must be MSU students, with prior restaurant cook or food prep experience preferred. Availability for varied shifts, including early mornings and nights, is required to support dining operations.
Starting Pay: $17.00/hour
Location: River Trail Neighborhood which includes the Gallery At Snyder, Thrive at Owen and the Vista at Shaw.
As a Student Cook, you will be responsible for assisting full-time and supervisory staff members with the preparation, cooking, and serving of food for all meal options in our venues.
You will be expected to commit to learning and practicing all relevant food safety regulations, standards, and guidelines, to ensure the safe handling and serving of all meals to customers.
We are looking for employees who have and want to improve knife skills, high quality standards, innovation and leadership skills.
You will assist in the training of L-1 student and on-call employees to ensure procedures are understood and followed.
Ability and desire to communicate with supervisors, managers, and other team members is essential.

Employees must be able to take direction and have a sense of urgency.
All team members are required to assist with venue, Kitchen and/or Dish Room clean up after meal service periods.
All employees are expected to work as directed in any equivalent or lower-level position as required to ensure continued, optimal service in the operation.
Preference will be given to those with kitchen experience, but we are willing to train motivated, dedicated individuals.
