Job summary

Auburn University’s Department of Poultry Science seeks a student to assist with the Food Organics Recycling Solutions composting system at the Charles C. Miller Jr. Poultry Research and Education Center.

Responsibilities include transporting waste, loading materials, weighing inputs, monitoring temperatures, collecting samples, and keeping a clean workspace. The ideal candidate is currently enrolled at Auburn, available to work at least 10 hours per week, and able to lift 50 pounds; afternoon

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass an MVR.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs.
• Ability to push/pull containers weighing up to 250lbs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transporting food waste from main campus to the Miller Center using a university owned pick-up truck with hydraulic lift gate.
• Transporting finished compost product back to main campus or other designated areas.
• Weighing and loading food waste and carbon sources into the Food Organics Recycling Solutions composting system.
• Monitoring the internal temperature of the composting system.
• Collecting and submitting compost samples to designated laboratories.
• Maintaining a clean working environment.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
