Job summary

Mubea in Florence, Kentucky is seeking engineering students for a hands-on internship in manufacturing excellence. You will engage in lean initiatives, data collection and analysis to drive improvements across productivity, TPM, downtime, and waste reduction.

You will lead 5S activities on the plant floor, perform cycle time studies, and help optimize layout and material flow while supporting quality investigations. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited engineering program (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical or related).
• Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of MS Office, MS Access, Minitab, AutoCAD and SAP (training available).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Willingness to work overtime when required.
• Organized and adaptable to changing priorities.
• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist teams and promote lean practices among all associates.
• Data collection, entry and analysis with improvement plans (productivity, TPM, downtime, scrap, changeovers).
• Lead 5S efforts on plant floor and maintenance activities.
• Perform cycle time studies to create and validate production standards including standardized work.
• Plan process layout and optimize material flow.
• Identify and implement cost and waste reduction activities.
• Recommend improvements to manufacturing processes.
• Support quality lab in serial monitoring and failure analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist teams and foster involvement of all associates in lean practices and efforts.
• Data collection, entry and analysis with improvement plans. May include, but not limited to productivity, total productive maintenance (TPM), downtime, scrap and change over initiatives.
• Leads 5S efforts, including planning, implementing and supporting plant floor and maintenance activities.
• Perform cycle time studies to create and validate production standards including standardized work.
• Process layout and material flow.
• Identify and implement cost and waste reduction activities.
• Recommend improvement to the manufacturing process.
• Assist quality lab in serial monitoring, failure analysis and support of quality related investigations.

Qualifications

• Must be a currently enrolled, degree seeking student from an accredited engineering program majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other Engineering related discipline.
• Strong Written, Verbal, Analytical And Interpersonal Skills Required.
• Working knowledge of computer application software such as MS Office, MS Access, Minitab, AutoCAD, SAP (training will be provided if needed).
• Ability and desire to work in a fast paced, manufacturing environment.
• Must be able to work overtime when required.
• Must be organized and work well with constantly priority changes.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
