Job summary

South Lake Schools seek a Middle School Dean of Students to lead behavior, attendance, and student engagement initiatives. You will work with the principal to create a safe, inclusive environment and coordinate restorative practices and tiered support for students.

The role emphasizes data-driven interventions, community partnerships, and safeguarding student well-being while aligning with district policies and state requirements. A valid Michigan pupil-services credential is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, social work, educational leadership, or related field.
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate, school counselor credential, or other pupil-services credential preferred.
• Minimum of three years of successful experience in a secondary school setting.
• Knowledge of adolescent development, MTSS, PBIS, restorative practices, and behavior intervention strategies.
• Strong leadership, organizational, technological, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead schoolwide systems for positive behavior, attendance, student engagement, and restorative practices.
• Investigate conduct referrals and coordinate corrective actions with families and staff.
• Monitor attendance, engagement, and behavioral data to guide interventions.
• Collaborate with families, staff, and community resources to remove barriers to learning.
• Maintain confidential records and ensure FAIR, lawful due process.
