Job summary

Canyon ISD in Amarillo seeks a Library Aide to support a smooth library environment for students and staff. You will help process books, AV materials, and assist in locating resources, while maintaining an organized and welcoming atmosphere.

Role involves assisting the librarian with class supervision, inventory, and routine library operations. Requires a High School Diploma and comfort with computers.

Qualifications

• Pleasing personality and a desire to work with students.
• Ability to assume responsibility for direct instruction of students.
• Ability to work with students to maintain an orderly atmosphere.
• General knowledge of working with computers.

Responsibilities

• Processes new books and periodicals.
• Processes audio-visual materials and equipment.
• Assists in preparing purchase order requests and ordering materials for the library.
• Assists teachers and students in the selection and location of books and other materials.
• Assists the school librarian in supervising classes in the library.
• Prepares and distributes overdue book notices, collects fines for damages, and handles lost book titles and issues receipts.
• Checks in books, magazines, and catalogues.
• Assists in maintaining inventory of supplies.
• Assists in bar-coding materials, typing labels, shelving books and videos.
• Assists teachers in the collection of materials as requested.
• Repairs damaged books.
• Relieves the school librarian of some non-teaching duties.
• Maintains a sincere, friendly attitude towards district and campus staff and faculty, parents, and students to insure communication.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
