Job summary

American University is seeking a Public Safety Aide (Student) on the East Campus in Washington, DC. This part-time role involves patrolling, event staffing, and office tasks to support Parking & Commuter Services and AU Police during special events.

You’ll gain familiarity with campus operations and interact with university staff and visitors. The position requires current AU enrollment, strong customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to walk/stand for extended periods.

Qualifications

Successfully complete all new hire paperwork and pass initial training.
Incoming or current AU student.
Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.

Responsibilities

Enforce parking policies on all campus properties.
Provide customer service to all campus community members and guests.
Maintain consistent communication with supervisors via radio and phone.
Positively represent the PSA program, the Office of Parking and Commuter Services, the AU Police Department, and the University as a whole.
Provide support to the AU Police Department during events such as Commencement or Move-In.
Follow PSA policies/procedures and the directions of supervisory staff.
