Job summary

Davenport University in Grand Rapids is seeking a part-time Student Campus Life Assistant to support the Center for Campus Life’s front desk, answer phones, and provide information to students, staff and visitors.

You will assist with events, promote student engagement, manage Engage@DU content, and help coordinate RSOs, CAB, and Student Government activities while upholding university policies and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Must be enrolled at least half time (6 credits undergrad and 3 credits grad) at Davenport University.
  • Must be work study eligible.
  • Ability to provide high-quality customer service in a busy environment.
  • Ability to plan, develop goals, meet deadlines, and manage workload.

Responsibilities

  • Perform front desk duties, answer calls, schedule appointments, and support staff.

(Student) Campus Life Assistant

WORK LOCATION:Grand Rapids - Lettinga Campus

DEPARTMENT:CCL-Student Life

POSITION PAY RANGE:$13.73

TARGET HIRING RANGE:Actual pay offered will be commensurate with candidate qualifications and experience, the type of role, pay equity and available funding.

SUMMARY

As a part of the Center for Campus Life (CCL), a Campus Life Assistant will assist in the oversight of our front desk and serve as the point person for those entering the CCL. The individual would answer and direct phone calls appropriately on behalf of all members of the CCL team, and/or assisting any student, staff, or faculty member that comes to the office for support. The student would serve as a source of general information to other students on topics and questions related to all departments within the Center for Campus Life. Specifically, the Student Life Assistant will support the Student Life team to identify the needs and interests of the student population in order to provide a wide range of quality engagement opportunities. The Student Life Assistant will be a resource for students interested in Registered Student Organizations and programming.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Perform routine office duties including front desk phone service, file management, appointment scheduling, and project completion for Center for Campus Life staff members.
  2. Make connections with community partners to establish community service opportunities for Davenport students.
  3. Handle phone calls, conversations, and database documents on behalf of Campus Life utilizing the highest level of confidentiality at all times.
  4. Design flyers and promotional materials for events, programs, and the office in general.
  5. Maintain and develop a social media presence for Student Life and Campus Life with content creation and online engagement.
  6. Assist with maintaining content of Engage@DU, the student engagement platform.
  7. Set up and work informational tables for events in academic buildings and/or Dining Hall.
  8. Maintain up to date posters and other promotional materials in approved areas around campus.
  9. Assist in the development and organization of social opportunities for students to connect with one another and the Davenport community.
  10. Serve as a resource for students by connecting them with leadership opportunities including Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), Campus Activities Board (CAB), and Student Government.
  11. Assist with on-site management of campus events while tracking attendance and providing program evaluation.
  12. Provide support for the Panther Resource Closet (PRC) by assisting with inventory maintenance and tracking.
  13. Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies.
  14. Develop and maintain skills by participating in ongoing training seminars.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Must be enrolled at least half time (6 credits undergrad and 3 credits grad) at Davenport University.
  • Must be meeting Standards of Academic Progress (SAP).
  • Must be work study eligible.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to perform well in the area of customer service, especially in a high traffic and busy environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, develop goals, meet deadlines, and accomplish goals while prioritizing workloads.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional appearance and manner.
  • Must be able to work an irregular schedule, evenings or Saturday as needed, additional hours during peak times or as required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that transcend diverse audiences; communicating to university customers with positive attitudes toward change, confidentiality, and conflict resolution.
  • Must be highly motivated and solution-oriented with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of the university.
  • Business office environment. Prolonged sitting and standing. Use of personal computer and telephone (eye and hand strain).
