Job summary

Durham School Services in Lawson, Missouri, is seeking a part-time Bus Assistant to support the bus driver, help manage and care for students during transport, and assist with boarding and exiting the vehicle.

You will follow safety procedures, model positive behavior, and assist with paperwork and training. The role emphasizes communication with drivers, school staff, and families while maintaining a neat, safe bus environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must meet physical and medical requirements.
• Ability to relate to and work well with children.
• Ability to lift and assist students when necessary.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with entering or exiting the bus in a safe manner.
• Seat students safely using seat belts, car seats or wheelchair restraints.
• Monitor passengers to ensure safety regulations and student conduct rules are followed.
• Document and report any violations or conduct concerns to appropriate authority.
• Assist Driver in keeping the interior of the bus clean and presentable.
• Complete all required paperwork and attend safety meetings and in-service trainings.
