Job summary

Durham School Services is seeking a dedicated Bus Assistant to support safe student transportation in Illinois. You will assist students entering and exiting the bus, ensure proper seating and restraints, and help keep the vehicle clean and presentable.

The role requires 18+ years, physical ability, and good communication with students, parents, and school staff. Training provided; excellent safety standards and professional conduct are expected. Compensation includes benefits and paid leave.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age; in New York, at least 19 years per state law.
• Must meet physical and medical requirements.
• Must complete and pass safety training and meetings.
• Ability to relate to and work well with children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with entering or exiting the bus in a safe manner.
• Seat students safely using belts or restraints as needed.
• Monitor passengers to ensure safety regulations and conduct rules are followed.
• Report violations or concerns to the supervisor or appropriate authority.
• Keep the interior of the vehicle clean and presentable.
