Job summary

Yuma Elementary School District ONE is seeking a Student Behavior Response Specialist to support school staff by implementing proactive strategies and promoting positive behavior. The role emphasizes de-escalation, data-informed decisions, and collaboration with teachers and administrators.

The position focuses on helping students develop self-regulation and social-emotional skills within a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions.
• KNOWLEDGE is required to understand stages of child development and behavior, classroom and school routines, and behavioral strategies.
• ABILITY is required to work calmly and effectively under pressure; maintain confidentiality; and build positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Implements strategies that promote positive behavior and support students in making positive choices.
• Provides direct intervention and de-escalation during behavioral incidents, including one-on-one and small group support.
• Monitors and documents student behavior trends for data collection and team decisions.
• Supports PBIS implementation and collaboration with staff on behavior plans.
