Job summary

Washoe County School District seeks a Prevention/Intervention Assistant to implement a prevention-intervention model aiding youth and families to boost academic success and graduation rates. This role works with the Community Support Team to address truancy through supportive, inclusive strategies.

The position involves MTSS case reviews, home visits, and coordination with district resources to promote student success and re-entry to school.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: HS diploma; two years with students or parents.
• Knowledge of Nevada standards, truancy issues, district resources and structure.
• Preferred: 30 semester or 45 quarter units in psychology, sociology, social work or related field; 2 years with at-risk students.
• Licenses/Certificates: Nevada driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for attendance and promote school engagement; establish Community Support Team and review caseload progress.
• Consult with school personnel to identify at-risk students and coordinate MTSS supports.
• Conduct home visits to identify reasons for poor attendance and coordinate re-entry and support.
• Collaborate with counselors and family services to develop prevention/empowerment programs.
