Job summary

Washoe County School District is seeking a Prevention/Intervention Assistant at Lemmon Valley Elementary School for one year (35 hrs/week) ending June 2027. The role supports youth and families to improve attendance and academic success, working with a Community Support Team to address truancy in a supportive, inclusive manner.

The position requires HQ status with a high school diploma or equivalent, plus college credits, an associate degree, or ParaPro score as described, and involves

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of at least 48 semester hours, or an associate's degree or higher, or passing the ParaPro Assessment with at least 460.
• Two years of experience with students or parents in school or community settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote acceptable school attendance and act as a child advocate for students.
• Coordinate with Community Support Team and hold ongoing caseload reviews.
• Identify at‑risk students and use MTSS processes to provide additional instructional support.
• Mentor students, collaborate with families, school counselors and agencies, and document progress.
• Conduct home visits and support re-entry to the district with families and schools.
• Maintain case load progress, prepare written reports, and participate in MTSS case reviews.
