Job summary

The University of Georgia in Athens is seeking an Academic Counselor to support student-athletes through academic planning, major selection, and career counseling. The role requires coordinating schedules, monitoring progress, and providing personalized guidance to help athletes balance coursework with competition.

You will collaborate with coaches, tutors, and professors to ensure compliance with NCAA and institutional policies and participate in recruiting events throughout the year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in counseling or a related field and 2 years of professional experience.
• Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary academic counselor for gymnastics, soccer, softball, and men’s tennis.
• Monitor academic progress of student-athletes, including weekly meetings with student-athlete, daily monitoring of class attendance, academic appointment attendance, and grades.
• Assist in developing and implementing all services related to academic planning, academic support, major selection, career counseling, academic monitoring, and personal development of student-athletes.
• Ensure compliance with NCAA, SEC and institutional rules and regulations pertaining to the area of academic advising.
