Job summary

Del Mar College is seeking a Student Assistant to support welding instructors within the Industrial Technology pool. This is a continuous recruitment for as-needed assignments, with opportunities to be scheduled as openings arise.

Current Del Mar College students enrolled in at least 6 credit hours are eligible. The position pays $10.00 per hour and continues as vacancies exist within the welding department.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled as a Del Mar College student for at least 6 credit hours.
• Knowledge of lay out, fabrication, basic welding and shop safety.
• Able to operate welding equipment.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructors with fabricating and making repairs.
• Take inventory of shop materials and supplies.
• Provide basic clean up and maintenance of shop.

The purpose of this position is to provide assistance to welding instructors.

Minimum Qualifications

Current Del Mar College student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours while employed.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Knowledgeable in lay out, fabrication, basic welding and shop safety.
• Able to operate a track torch and pipe beveling machine.
• Able to set up, trouble shoot and operate welding equipment.
• Know proper lifting techniques and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
