Job summary

UW Medicine IT Services is seeking a Student Assistant on the SharePoint Migration Support team to assist with migrating content from SharePoint 2019 to SharePoint Online and support site owners and project teams throughout the migration. This hybrid role offers flexible hours with core hours 08:00–17:00 (PST) and up to 19.5 hours per week during academic terms, through 12/31/2026 with potential extension.

The position provides hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 tools and collaboration

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled UW student
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 apps (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with SharePoint
  • Interest in information technology or information management
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Assist with migrating documents, lists, libraries, and site content to SharePoint Online
  • Review and organize existing SharePoint content for readiness and cleanup
  • Help validate migrated content with QA checks and issue documentation
  • Support site owners with content inventory and permissions reviews
  • Create and maintain migration documentation and guides for SharePoint Online features
  • Track migration activities and issues using project tools

Job Description UW Medicine IT Services is seeking a Student Assistant - SharePoint Migration Support team member to assist with the migration of content from SharePoint 2019 to SharePoint Online. This position will help ensure information is successfully transitioned to UW Medicine's modern collaboration platform while supporting site owners and project team members throughout the migration process.

WORK SCHEDULE HYBRID: Work may be performed remotely, although there may be occasional opportunities or needs to work from our office in the University District, Seattle, WA Position Duration: Now through 12/31/2026 with a possibility of extending May require up to 19.5 hours per week while classes are in session Hours are flexible and can be scheduled around academic commitments UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 08:00 – 17:00 (PST), Monday-Friday

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with the migration of documents, lists, libraries, and site content from SharePoint 2019 to SharePoint Online
  • Review and organize existing SharePoint content to support migration readiness and data cleanup efforts
  • Help validate migrated content by performing quality assurance checks and documenting issues
  • Support SharePoint site owners with content inventory, permissions reviews, and migration-related tasks
  • Create and maintain documentation, guides, and job aids for migration processes and SharePoint Online features
  • Track migration activities, outcomes, and issues using project management and reporting tools
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate with UW Medicine ITS staff on migration planning and execution
  • Provide general administrative and project support related to SharePoint modernization initiatives
REQUIREMENTS
  • Currently enrolled UW Student who meets enrollment eligibility requirements
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook
  • Familiarity with SharePoint
  • Interest in information technology, business systems, information management, or related fields
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to review and manage large volumes of electronic documents and information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work effectively with team members and stakeholders
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and business processes
