Rutgers University in New Jersey's RBHS seeks a Student Assistant in the Neuroscience & Cell Biology lab at RWJ Medical School. Under the PI's supervision, you will help with behavioral experiments in mice, neural recording, and data collection while receiving hands-on training in modern neuroscience techniques.

The role is part-time and on-site in Piscataway, ~10 hours per week. Ideal candidates are Rutgers undergraduates in neuroscience, biology, engineering, computer science, or psychology

Responsibilities

  • Assist with behavioral experiments in mice, including preparation of experimental equipment and data collection.
  • Assist with neural recording, fiber photometry, and optogenetic experiments under supervision.
  • Analyze behavioral and neural datasets using MATLAB and/or Python.
  • Read and discuss relevant neuroscience literature and participate and present in laboratory meetings.

Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Student Assistant for the department of Neuroscience & Cell Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, assists with laboratory research investigating the neural circuits underlying navigation, and decision-making. The student will contribute to behavioral experiments in mice, neural recording and optogenetic studies, data analysis, and general laboratory operations while receiving training in modern systems neuroscience techniques.

Key Duties
  • Assist with behavioral experiments in mice, including preparation of experimental equipment and data collection.
  • Assist with neural recording, fiber photometry, and optogenetic experiments under supervision.
  • Analyze behavioral and neural datasets using MATLAB and/or Python.
  • Read and discuss relevant neuroscience literature and participate and present in laboratory meetings.
  • Handle additional related responsibilities as assigned by the Principal Investigator and assigned mentor.
