Student Assistant, Honors College
The Student Assistant in the Honors College assists with routineoffice duties including answering phones, maintaining e-mailcorrespondence, coordinating with staff members, greeting visitors,organizing office materials and files, and assisting with eventsand programs, maintaining social media, and content creation.
Job Description
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Greeting visitors (students, faculty, staff, and communitymembers) and provides accurate information about the HonorsCollege
- Provide answers to frequently asked questions about the HonorsCollege and connects visitors (students, faculty, staff, andcommunity members) with the appropriate departments
- Answers phones and routes calls to the corresponding staffmember(s)
- Sorts and delivers mail/packages throughout the office
- Accurately files paperwork, makes copies, scans, and compilesdocuments
- Assists with preparation of mailings and event materials
- Assists during events, including organization andcoordination
- Schedules and maintains staff appointment calendars
- Compiles, organizes, and enters data in program databases
- Featuring Honors College students, faculty, staff, alumni,events, and opportunities on social media, and other approved meansof communication
- Creating engaging content (media, visual, etc.) for socialevents and initiatives

Required Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled as a degree seeking student at Florida GulfCoast University at the time of hiring and throughout theappointment
- Must be a current Honors College student in good standing withboth the Honors College and the University
- Must be eligible to receive Federal Work-Study funds
- Must have experience operating a personal computer with Windows(preferred) and/or Mac OS
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel,Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Must have experience with Canva or other platforms suited formedia content creation and editing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Work experience in higher education settings with a strongunderstanding of organizational practices and culture
- Previous work experience as an Office Assistant
- Experience in office/business management and/orcreating/editing media content
