Job summary

The University of Georgia in Athens is seeking a Student Assistant to support the Histology lab. You will trim representative sections for IDL accessions and help maintain cleanliness in the Pathology Grossing Lab, Grinding Room, and Histology Lab.

This part-time (.50 FTE) position emphasizes reliability, basic data handling, and teamwork with diverse staff. Prior interest in laboratory safety and customer service is a plus. Training will be provided. Anticipated start date 09/27/2026.

Position Summary

Position is responsible for trimming representative sections of samples for IDL accessions, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the Pathology Grossing Lab, the Grinding Room, and the Histology Lab.


Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position

Prior experience in the following fields is a plus: customer service and a basic knowledge or understanding of laboratory safety.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Excellent customer service skills, organizational skills, self‑motivated, good with numbers, attention to detail, verbal and written communication skills, and will work with several different people and personalities. Lift 50 pounds. Willing to serve others.
