Job summary

The University of Georgia TSai lab in Davison Life Sciences is seeking student workers to assist with everyday upkeep and running of a plant genomics research lab. Tasks include washing glassware, plant tissue processing and disposal, stocking supplies, general cleaning, and preparation of common reagents.

Preferred candidates study Biology, Plant Biology, Ecology or Forestry, with coursework in biology/chemistry and prior lab or plant care experience.

Qualifications

  • Biology, Plant Biology, Ecology, Forestry or other science majors preferred.
  • Coursework in biology or chemistry and previous lab/plant care experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Routine maintenance in lab or greenhouse (washing glassware, plant tissue processing and disposal, stocking supplies, general cleaning).
  • Plant Care (watering, scouting for pests, applying fertilizer).
  • Assisting on other research projects as needed.

Position Summary:

Tsai lab in Davison Life Sciences is looking for student assistants to help with general upkeep and running of a plant genomics research laboratory. Tasks include washing glassware, plant tissue processing and disposal, stocking supplies, general cleaning, and preparation of common reagents. Preferred schedule is 3 hours/day, 3-5 days/week, which can include some weekend shifts.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position:

Biology, Plant Biology, Ecology, Forestry or other science majors preferred. Coursework in biology or chemistry and previous lab and/or plant care experience is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies :

Ability to follow complex instructions, ability to work independently, organization skills, attention to detail, precision, self‐awareness and manual delicacy.

Physical Demands:

Lift 50 lbs (e.g., bag of soil). Driving to perform job related tasks (take state vehicle to greenhouse or composting site).
