Job summary

California Energy Bond Office (CEBO) within the California Department of Water Resources is seeking a Student Assistant (Engineering and Architectural Sciences) to support engineering and economic analyses related to California’s energy markets.

The role works under the Supervisor for the Regulatory Compliance and Reporting Section and involves assisting with the DWR Charge Fund and Electric Power Fund programs.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled student in engineering or architectural sciences.
  • Experience with engineering or economic analysis is a plus.
  • Ability to assist in regulatory filings and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering and economic analysis for forecasting and revenue tracking from electricity retail sales.
  • Prepare regulatory filings and reports for CPUC proceedings.
  • Monitor CPUC proceedings and support bond issuance activities.
  • Prepare engineering and economic reports, metrics, and presentations.

The California Energy Bond Office (CEBO) plays a vital role in shaping the future of energy regulation and financing. CEBO manages utility regulatory matters, participates in rate-setting proceedings with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and oversees a bond program that supports the modernization of California’s energy market.

As a Student Assistant at CEBO, you will contribute to high-impact projects that blend engineering, economics, and policy to support California’s clean energy goals. Under the direction of the Supervisor for the Regulatory Compliance and Reporting Section of CEBO, the incumbent will assist in the management of the DWR Charge Fund Program, created by Assembly Bill (AB) 1054 and the Electric Power Fund Program, created by AB 1X.

Responsibilities of this position include assisting in performing engineering and economic analysis for forecasting and tracking revenue from electricity retail sales, preparing regulatory filings, monitoring proceedings with the CPUC, managing the issuance of bonds, and preparation of engineering and economic reports, metrics and presentations.
