The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking to hire a Student Assistant in the Facilities Branch. The student assistant will be responsible for drafting plans for internal configurations, including modular system furniture (MSF) design and plan management for MSF in AutoCAD. This position will also be reviewing floor and/or site plans and completing changes as necessary to reflect actual conditions as well as providing project support for project managers and/or architect positions.
This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.

F lexible workdays and work hours, Monday – Friday, between 8 AM – 5 PM. Local travel may be available. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor. A hybrid schedule will be available after training, DMV headquarters in Sacramento.
Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday – Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer).
The position is a hybrid work schedule, after training, that includes reporting to DMV headquarters in Sacramento.
$16.90- $22.70 per hour.
Manage and update Master Plans using AutoCAD.
Review plans, provide comments, and perform occupancy load calculations and verifications.
Participate in construction, design, and project meetings.
Prepare plans for interior configurations, including Modular Systems Furniture (MSF) layouts.
Maintain and update MSF plans and records in AutoCAD.
Manage MSF inventories and databases, including components and parts.
Coordinate and track MSF warranty and non-warranty repair services.
Visit Sacramento-area headquarters buildings and field offices to assess existing conditions and oversee repairs.
Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work is performed in a hybrid environment.
