• Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress
• Student is required to retain Family Education Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA) confidentiality

Responsibilities

• Assist with the setup, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of networking equipment, including routers, switches, wireless devices, cabling, and related hardware.
• Support faculty in preparing the networking lab for instructional activities, demonstrations, and student projects.
• Maintain the organization, inventory, and documentation of networking lab equipment and supplies.
• Perform basic hardware and software updates on lab systems as directed.
• Help identify, diagnose, and resolve routine network and workstation issues.
• Assist with equipment deployment, testing, and recovery following laboratory exercises.
• Ensure the networking lab remains clean, organized, and compliant with department policies and safety procedures.
• Provide basic technical assistance to students using lab resources.
• Complete other technology-related tasks and projects as assigned by faculty or department staff.

Job Summary

The Student Networking Lab Assistant supports the Department of Information Technology in the maintenance, operation, and organization of the networking laboratory. Working under the supervision of faculty and staff, the student assistant helps ensure that networking equipment, lab workstations, and instructional resources remain functional, secure, and available for student learning activities. This role provides hands-on experience with networking technologies, hardware configuration, troubleshooting, and laboratory support. The student assistant should adhere to their schedule within the allotted number of hours provided. Maximum work hours per week is 19.
