The State of Michigan's Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) seeks a Student Assistant to support the Emerging Pollutants Section in implementing the land application PFAS strategy and researching impacts of historic land applications in St. Clair County.
Responsibilities include ArcGIS mapping, compiling PFAS data from environmental samples, desktop site reviews, literature reviews, and historical PFAS research. Enrollment evidence is required.
This position is limited to 129 hours per month.
The student must provide evidence of enrollment or acceptance to an educational institution.
Current enrollment in high school, vocational or technical school, or post-secondary educational institution.
Current enrollment in college or university and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in geographic information systems (GIS), geology, environmental science, hydrogeology, biology, natural resource management, or similar.
No specific type or amount is required.
The Student Assistant should have a strong interest in environmental protection. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience working with spreadsheets is required. Experience in geographic information systems (GIS), data analysis using statistical or programming software, and database development/maintenance are preferred.
