Allegan County Government seeks a manager of the environmental health field program to enforce state and county environmental health laws, issue permits for wells, septic systems, and food facilities, and safeguard public health across the county.
The role includes inspecting sites, training staff in multiple programs, evaluating performance, and coordinating with EGLE and MDHHS. A bachelor’s degree and professional certification are required.

Serves as a manager of the environmental health field program and acts as an expert resource to other sanitarians. This position issues permits for commercial/residential wells, septic systems, soil erosion and sedimentation control, food and in the County to enforce Federal, State and County sanitation and environmental health laws to safeguard the public health using the Michigan Department of the Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE), Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and County regulations. In addition, this position inspects commercial, residential and public locations in the county to enforce federal, state and county sanitation and environmental health laws to safeguard public health.
